MCIT, Microsoft Egypt Launch ‘Tawar w Ghayar’ Learning Tracks

The Central Department for Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with Microsoft Egypt, is launching a new phase of "Tawar w Ghayar" initiative (develop and change), under the theme "Learning Tracks," during October 2020 to January 2021.

The initiative targets developing young people's skills according to the needs of the labor market and given the significance of digital literacy. This is in addition to providing them with training opportunities, building their capacities and creating more job opportunities.

The new phase comes in light of the changes occurring in the local labor market as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which affected employment and the availability of job opportunities.

Through studying the market needs, the initiative realized the most in-demand jobs at the labor market and started planning to qualify and raise the efficiency of young people through training them in three specialized educational tracks: software development, sales, and e-marketing.

Trainees, through the tracks, go through several stages that help them build an organized career, beginning with learning then finding internship opportunities in major companies.

Each track starts with training and raising the efficiency of the initiative trainers. This is achieved through carrying out the Training of Trainers (TOT) program in which trainers at MCIT are taught to deliver the tracks in an experimental approach, to measure the impact of these tracks on young people. Tracks are then provided on a larger scale through training the initiative trainers in different specializations.

Participants are then granted an internship opportunity in certain companies, based on their specializations, thus allowing more young people to easily find an in-demand job. The initiative coordinates with the companies to secure relevant jobs for participants.
