Qodwa Tech Shortlisted for WSIS Prizes 2020
Qodwa Tech project, launched by the Central Department for Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has been shortlisted in the 8th edition of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2020 (WSIS) Prizes contest, under the category "The role of governments and all stakeholders in the promotion of ICTs for development."
The project targets harnessing ICTs to foster the socio-economic development of Egyptian women and girls in education, health and employability. The aim is to inspire and empower women to lead entrepreneurial promising business, participate in the decision-making process and play an effective role in developing their communities.
The WSIS Prizes contest was developed in response to requests from WSIS stakeholders to create an effective mechanism to evaluate projects and activities that leverage the power of ICTs to advance sustainable development. Since its inception, the contest of WSIS Prizes has attracted more than 300,000 stakeholders.
The winning projects will be announced during a prize ceremony during WSIS Forum 2020, on April 6-9.
