ICT4SMEs Training Course at Voyager Optics Technology Centre in Tanta

Voyager Optics Technology Centre was established in 1998 and it deals in telescopes and microscopes markets. In thirteen years its business grew considerably, together with foreign trade and educational activities.

The Learning Centre organizes ICT Training courses for the SMEs Programme financed by UNDP and Egypt ICT Trust Fund. The courses cost 20LE per person, last 5 weeks and the lectures take place 3 hours a day all the week long except Friday. The average number of students is 20 and generally 80% of the class is composed by boys. The Training aims to raise awareness and advocate the importance of ICTs in M/SMEs.

Mokthar Abd El-Fattah (picture 2) is the owner of the Voyager Optics Technology Centre and the director of the Learning Centre. He completed his studies in Optics and Technology at the University of Tanta and after a work experience at Siemens he started his own business investing micro loans issued by the Social Fund for Development (SFD). His loans were conditioned on previous employment in some work activity and on the intention to invest money into ICT equipment and ICT training courses. The Company currently employs 9 staff members, including Mokthar's son (Ahmed). The annual income is of 250.000LE.
